Effect of Online Education Program of Aging on Undergraduate Students¡¯ Knowledge and Attitudes toward Elderly and Aging

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of online education program of aging on undergraduate students¡¯ knowledge and attitudes toward elderly. Method: The study sample consisted of 192 undergraduate students from two universities from D and G city. The instrument was the revised one by Han(2000) using Palmore(1988)¡¯s Facts on Aging Quiz I and II. The 25 item were asked to identify the target students¡¯ knowledge and attitudes toward elderly and aging before and after the class. Result: The result of this study were as follows. First, Undergraduate students¡¯ knowledge level was low and attitudes were negative at the baseline. Second, after class, knowledge scores have been improved from 15.17 to 17.12 significantly. In addition, the attitudes toward elderly and aging have been changed from negative to more positive way showing 23 point difference. Conclusion: This study shows the urgent need of various education program on positive aging for young generation before they reach to old age.
